Mayor's column coming to The Rye Sound Shore Review

Next week The Rye Sound Shore Review is set to unveil its inaugural mayor's column featuring Douglas French (R), Rye City's newest mayor.

After weeks of preliminary discussions, the mayor has committed to penning a piece each week succeeding Rye City Council meetings. In his State of the City address in January, one of three governing philosophies the mayor said he would deploy is to "encourage active public participation" because an informed public and fact-based communication is fundamental to positive change.

"Starting next week, I look forward to the opportunity to regularly share with you a summary of the key issues, facts and decisions coming out of our City Council meetings so you not only have a better understanding of the challenges we face but can also have a voice in how we best handle them," French opined in anticipation of the ongoing piece.

The newspaper already features regularly run columns by former Mayor John Carey (D), on all things Rye, and a historical reflection of the 350 year history of the Town of Rye thanks to resident mainstay Doug Carey.

You can expect the first installment of the mayor's column in the March 5 edition of The Rye Sound Shore Review.
