Walsh surprised by comptroller ruling

Harrison Mayor Joan Walsh (D) said she was surprised by the state comptroller's opinion that Councilwoman Marlane Amelio (R) voting on the chief appointment was not a conflict of interest.

Amelio, whose niece is married to Capt. Anthony Marraccini, said she intended to vote on the appointment. Walsh sought the opinion, saying their relationship was a conflict of interest. The comptroller told Harrison yesterday the law would forbid a direct blood relative from such a vote. Walsh told us she believed the two were family regardless if they were blood relatives or relatives through marriage.

What else is new, maybe a Wee-Gee Board would be more helpful instead of asking busy State dignitaries about how we should handle our town affairs??

What does Mayro Walsh want to do, keep searching until she finds someone to agree with her? Marlane shoould vote. I don't see Pat Vetere recusing himself when it comeas to voting for raises for the toen emloyees. His son works for our town. Isn't that a conflict of interest. Why doesn't someone begin impeach, emnt proceedings against het? She ias ruining our town

I wonder if our Mayor asked the Arch Bishop for his opinion?
